Top 10 Best Headphones for Watching Movies

Best Headphones for Watching MoviesWe associate headphones mostly with music but how often do you end up using them to watch movies, game and scroll through Facebook videos? Very often. Since you can always turn to a Surround Sound system to partner with the home theatre, where does headphone come in the picture? Imagine you want to watch movies at night on full-blast volume and the family is asleep. Headphones. What if you need a more intimate experience of watching movies like you do with music? Headphones. What if you have a listening impairment and need higher volume than others? Headphones. So it’s worth investing in pair of headphones for movies if you are a movie buff. While there aren’t such specific cans, some headphones have a sound signature that’s primed for showing off the details in the audio and adding spice to it. Such uber-most comfortable headphones made it to our headphones for movies list.

What should I look for in headphones for watching movies?

There are no special headphones for movies but the best ones we selected here have the following sonic qualities that make them a delight during the 50th re-run of Die Hard series:

Powerful yet Controlled Bass:Bass forms the core of subtle romantic score of romcoms, the violent explosions of action movies and the nerve-straining music of horror movies. So you need plentiful bass to make your movies sound fun. A measured boost in the mid-bass region can do wonders to your listening experience. However, there’s such a thing as too much bass.We keep talking about over-bassy audio being muddy, but as casual listeners, most of you probably don’t see the difference. Well, try listening to Arnold Schwarzenegger mumble through gunfire on such a headphone. So bass is important but too much of it can be damaging.

Soundstage: The soundstage of a headphone reflects how the reproduction places the musical instruments in your head. You get spatial cues from just the two drivers which helps you visualize instruments and singers in space.  A good movie headphone will have a wide soundstage which makes the audio sound intimately Surround Sound.

Refinement:Movies highlight the importance of details in audio when you want to listen to a subtle background core and Liam Neeson’s spirited instructions to the A-team. The detailing is especially important for the midrange which handles the vocals. Romantic movies are even more awe-inspiring when the whispered sweet nothings are clearly audible. Refined headphones for movies will let you hear every intricacy of the movie audio that the makers wanted to bring to you.

Comfort:Each movie lasts through 1.5-3 hours. More, if you are doing a movie marathon. So your ears need to stay comfortable. The best headphones for movies are over-ear designs that rest comfortably around the ears. The headband should be flexible and find a balance in the clamping pressure. It shouldn’t be so tight that it hurts your ears or so loose that it keeps slipping off.

How to connect headphones to TV?

The best headphones for movies selected here come with three types of connection options.

Wired headphones: Many of these headphones have cables that end in a 3.5mm headphone jack. Most TVs these days have a corresponding audio-out port. The headphones can be connected to it. If your TV only has the RCA ports, buy a 3.5mm-to-RCA converter cable like DTOL 3.5mm Male Audio Video Extension RCA Male Extension cable. This product willfit into the TV RCA ports and also give you some extra length to reach the couch. These are also easy to plug into laptop or any other portable music device.

RF wireless headphones:These are TV headphones which consist of a transmitter base and headphones. The transmitter is connected to the TV using a 3.5mm port or the RCA ports. It communicates wirelessly to the movie headphones using RF waves. The audio may not match up with the highly-refined wired headphones but you get the freedom to move around while watching TV. You have similar Infrared headphones but they need line-of-sight communication between the transmitter and receiver.

Bluetooth wireless headphones:Bluetooth headphones are the ultimate pick because they can play good quality music wirelessly with any Bluetooth-enabled audio device. If your TV is not Bluetooth-capable, you can still use these movie headphones by connecting a Bluetooth transmitter to your TV or receiver. If you need to connect only one Bluetooth headphone, look at the Mpow Streambot Bluetooth transmitter and receiver.  Another option is the Keedox Mini Bluetooth 4.0 receiver. For connecting two headphones simultaneously, check out the Avantree aptX Bluetooth Transmitter – Priva II. Do note that your TV must have a 3.5mm audio port to connect these.

If you have been smart and invested in a Bluetooth TV, rejoice!

Which are the best headphones for movies?

We selected the best headphones for movies from our experience of reviewing thousands of headphones based on the following factors:

Audio: Based on the audio characteristics mentioned above, we selected 10 best headphones for movies. We preferred warm sound signatures over clinical, neutral audio response because the former sounds much more fun during movies.

Construction:This is important with respect to durability and comfort. Since these are going to be rather carelessly used, the best headphones for movies are built to last. Comfort was on the top of our minds while selecting these. So we paid attention to the earcup design and headband tension.

Budget:The expensive headphones have more refinement, better bass control and detail and an energetic audio which cheaper headphones cannot match up. However, if these small audio cues are not apparent to you, we have some affordable headphones in this list as well. These are the best in their price-range for movie-watching.

Connection options:We have selected headphones for movies which cover all three major connection options mentioned above. These give you choice for the different types of TVs or media devices you may connect them to.

They pick from the brand’s legacy of smooth technology and comfortable fitment. This is a transmitter and receiver system that needs no extra hardware to function with your TV. They can also be connected to laptops and other movie players with audio/RCA ports. The wire-free functionality was enough to put it on the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

The Sennheiser RS 175 RF movie headphones come as a set of two components: the transmitter-cum-charging base and the headphones themselves. When not in use, you can hang the headphones on this base. It keeps charging automatically and stays out of harm’s way.The base station is a lightweight device. It has a 3.5mm input port and a digital optical port. Both types of cables are included in the pack.  You can use them either to connect to the TV or to the cable box. We used the 3.5mm port with a 3.5mm male-male cable to connect to the PC.

The earcups of these headphones are broader on the top and trim at the bottom. They correspond properly with the ears. The headband may be slightly rigid for bigger heads until you break them in.  There’s cushioning under the headband as well.

The RF range of 330 feet(on paper) lets you get chips and soda from the fridge without disconnecting the audio. The realistic range is around 100 feet with walls in between. You can connect two RS175 headphones to the same transmitter base and share the audio. Battery lasts through 18 hours per charge.

Audio

Sennheiser has never failed us with audio and it is not about to start with the RS175 movie headphones. There’s a pleasantly warm touch to the sound which helps with movies. The soundstage is open for a closed back headphone but not to the extent of Momentum 2.0.  The RF connection holds strong within 60 feet, even with a wall in between.  The audio sounds natural and balanced. The bass is punchy and effective for all genres. The dialogues sound clear in the relatively transparent background. The audio does not leak out much so you can enjoy Star Wars without antagonizing your Trekkie partner.

The transmitter of these headphones for movies carries a Bass Boost and virtual Surround Sound option. The bass boost is great for gamers and bass heads who like their blasts to sound mind-blowing.  The virtual Surround Sound opens up the soundstage a bit and mimics an engulfing sound.

Pros:

  • Wireless within 330 feet
  • Charging/storing dock-cum-transmitter
  • Connect easily to TV and other devices with 3.5mm port
  • Two RS175s can connect to the same transmitter to share
  • Bass boost, virtual Surround Sound mode

2. Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 headphones

sennheiser-momentum-2-0-headphonesThe outstanding warm and vigorous audio of Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 makes them a top-notch choice for all types of media. This is supported by a lightweight, comfortable design that fits on your ears like a glove. The Momentum 2.0 also stands out amongst the crowd for it youthful looks. Its detachable cable earned it a place in our best headphones with volume control list as well. It is so well-rounded that wild horses couldn’t have kept it from being the best headphones for movies.

Design and Features

Sennheiser has done a lot of variations of Momentum, on-ear, in-ear, wireless etc. But for movie-viewing, we selected the Momentum 2.0 over-ear wired ones.  These are more comfortable for prolonged wearing with their deep memory foam cushions and genuine leather draping.  The earpieces look like they are fixed on the extended metal headband.  The earpads sit around the ears for normal-sized ones. The headband has sleek padding with leather coating the area from ear to ear.It has optimum clamp pressure. You either get Momentum 2.0 in all black or tan/brown combination.

These movie headphones come with a detachable cable. Based on the package you choose, this can either be with an Android-friendly remote or iOS-friendly remote. They could have included both types of cables in every package for the premium price. The cable affixes with a twist-and-lock mechanism which makes it harder to accidentally yank it off the headphone.

The arms of Momentum 2.0 headphones are foldable and reduce it to a small, portable package. These can be easily stowed into an accompanying carry case once the movie is over. They lie in the moderately high price-range. But they bang big for the bucks, both physically and acoustically.

Audio

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 movie headphones start impressing you right out of the box. The first thing we noticed is the bass. Not only is it powerful, the full-bodied audio goes deep. The sub-bass region showed up even at low volumes. There’s some bass-boosting in play here, but Sennheiser has done it so surgically, that you don’t see bass bloating into the mids. The definition of bass brings power to the action movie sequences and also lets you hear all the mayhem surrounding them.

The midranges shine especially with vocals. They sound clear and as real as the original deal. You can notice the refined quality of Sennheiser’s audio here. The treble sparkles without any extra bite. The rich audio is set in an open, wide soundstage.  You get a fair amount of noise isolation. But the more important trait is that the audio does not leak out significantly even at high volume. So if the missus is sleeping right next to you, she wouldn’t be able to hear the Doctor Strange dialogues word-for-word.

Pros:

  • Lightweight, stylish and high quality
  • Rich and dynamic audio
  • Powerful bass, open soundstage
  • Detachable cable

Cons:

  • L-Shaped plug may not fit properly into your TV arrangement

3. Panasonic Quick-Fit Over-the-Ear DJ Stereo Monitor Headphones RP-HTF600-S

panasonic-quick-fit-over-the-ear-dj-stereo-monitor-headphones-rp-htf600-sPanasonic has moments of genius intermittently, that’s when they come up with headphones like RP-HTF600. We were impressed by the value these movie headphones bring for the money. They are one of the cheapest ones on the best headphones for movies list. They bring the bassy goodness and warmth that would make any movie sound realistic.  They have been designed to be comfortable for prolonged hearing as well.

Design and Features

The first thing we noticed about Panasonic HTF600 headphones is that they don’t look their price. They are stylish and sturdy-looking.The earpieces are racetrack oval and designed to fit small and large ears equally well.  The headband has cushy cushions in the cranial part. It also has a quick-fit button which lets you toggle between two preset headband sizes. This way you don’t have to calibrate so that both sides are equally extended. HTF600 is done up in a suave combination of black and chrome. The earpads are removable and if you like these headphones for movies, you can buy Velour pads of their size for extra comfort. They look like something that atech-savvy person would own.

There is a one-sided cable on these headphones which comes out of the right earcup. It is 10 feet long, possibly for DJ use. The earcups can be rotated out for one-side monitoring as DJs do. The audio leaks outside some. But it’s not enough to wake up people sleeping at some distance. Noise isolation is average. On the upside, this helps you keep an ear out for your kids.

Audio

If you are a casual listener who’s just entering the over-ear headphones market, buy these without a second thought. That is unless you are training to be a purist. The Panasonic HTF600 headphones have a colored audio which brings energy into the playback. The resonating bass is boosted to the basshead’s taste. It bleeds into mids a smidgen but it’s not enough to qualify them as muddy-sounding.  Rather it makes gaming a pleasure and adds to the vibe of movies.

Mids stand out and show their presence except in extremely bassy situations on these movie headphones. They sound properly underscored by bass. In spite of bass interference on some songs, they have a strong presence. The highs have no bite. They are smooth and easy to listen to. The soundstage is large even though these are closed-back headphones.

Pros:

  • Fun audio with powerful bass
  • Clear mids and smooth highs
  • Stylish and lightweight
  • Replaceable earpads
  • One-sided 10-feet long cable

Cons:

  • Build quality is moderate

4. Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless Headphones

bowers-wilkins-p7-wireless-headphonesThere’s scope for Bluetooth headphones to work with Bluetooth TVs or with Bluetooth transmitters we mentioned before.  So we picked up the one wireless headphone which will make it all worth the trouble. The Bowers and Wilkins P7 Bluetooth headphones can revamp your movie watching experience. Not just that, it is a highly portable headphone that can connect to any media device with Bluetooth.  The audio is rejuvenating and relayed losslessly via AptX technology. The hi-end doodads cost you big. But P7 wireless is worth its place in the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

Bowers and Wilkins P7 wireless headphones look a lot like their predecessors P5 and P7 wired. It’s hard to overlook the aluminum and premium leather design. It looks like a designer headphone that is virtually indestructible. The earpads are large, rectangular, over-ear type that fit comfortably around the ears. The metal headband has some excess tension initially but it loosens up with time. The memory foam pad on earpads is lavishly fluffed.  The headband is similarly endowed in terms padding. To offset the larger footprint of the headphones, their arms can be folded to make them portable.

Because of the size of the earpads, you get a good amount of noise isolation from outside. All the buttons are placed on the right earcup of these movie headphones. The buttons are slim and almost disappear into the design. There’s a Play/Pause button flanked by volume/Track navigation buttons.

Bluetooth functionality works seamlessly on the B&W P7 movie headphones. We did not face any connection dropouts.  The battery lasts through 17 hours per charge. In case, your headphones run out of juice you can use the 2.5mm-3.5mm cable provided with the pack to connect in the wired mode.

Audio

Bowers and Wilkins lean on the bass in their P7 movie headphones. The bass is tastefully pumped. The rich warmth of audio is evident across all genres. The kick in the bass adds a lot of excitement to the sound. It is built upon a foundation of agile sub bass. It responds fast to the rhythm changes. So a complicated audio clip will play smoothly without compromising on details. Bassy songs are handled easily on P7.

The midrange does not lose any attention to bass. The vocals rise clear and above the instruments. The treble sizzles without any harshness. The soundstage is quite big and accommodates an accurate stereo image.

Pros:

  • Sleek and comfortable
  • Highly durable
  • Powerful bass, terrific treble
  • Bluetooth with AptX
  • Foldable

Cons:

  • Buttons are not built to tactile advantage

5. Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones

audio-technica-ath-m50x-professional-studio-monitor-headphonesAudio-Technica headphones are made to educate the uninitiated about audiophile sound. Their M50x has set many discussions alight with its warm and delicious sound. This is a moderately-priced headphone with A-T’s lauded sense of balance in tonality. It is used as a yardstick to judge headphones in a wide price range. A comfy build and priceless accessories make it one of the best headphones for movies.

Design and Features

The Audio-Technica M50x is a casual listener’s version of M50s which drove some audiophiles wild. This is a large over-ear movie headphone that manages to look sleek once worn. The build is mostly plastic which helps keep the weight down to285g. The form is mostly made out of plastic with metal in the headband and earcup highlights. The earcups are padded lavishly and sheathed in what we think is synthetic leather. The headband is similarly padded for a comfortable contact with the head. One reason we selected M50x over M40x is because the latter would get uncomfortable after continuous wearing for 45-60 mins. M50x have no such issues.

To emphasize their portability, these movie headphones have articulating arms that fold the earcups inside. The cable is detachable as well. Audio-Technica encloses three cables with these headphones. One is a short 1.2m cable. There are two 3m cables: one straight and one coiled. All are twist-and-lock cables that attach to a 2.5mm port on the headphones. These longer cables give you enough range of motion around the TV or laptop. The audio leakage out of the headphones is low but the passive noise isolation is only average.

Audio

The dynamic audio of M50x movie headphone is the real winner. This buttery smooth sound is set in a massive soundstage and plays with unbounded energy. The sound signature is colored, which is probably one gripe that audiophiles have with these. But this is a blessing for movie watchers. The rich sound is underlined by meaty bass. Bass travels wide and deep but with such control that it stops short of any transgression into the midrange. It would take a much more expensive headphone to match the tautness.

Vocals and guitars are peppered with details and stand above the instruments. The treble rises to match the energy of bass without lending itself to any harshness or sibilance. It is smooth and detailed. We were surprised by the airy audio which gives no hint that these movie headphones are closed-back.

Pros:

  • Rich and dynamic audio
  • Powerful, tight bass
  • Massive soundstage
  • Comes with 3 detachable cables
  • Foldable and comfortable

Cons:

  • Noise isolation is average

6. Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones

sennheiser-hd-598-special-edition-over-ear-headphonesThe Sennheiser HD 598 and the Audio-Technica M50x headphones are equally great for their respective prices. HD 598 is an open-back headphone so the audio leaks out. If you use headphones while watching movies just so that your roommates/family is not disturbed, this docks a point for the HD 598. Otherwise, these are the headphones where Sennheiser pulls its audio magic. They also ace the game in terms of comfort. Their refined audio deserves a place in the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

The brown and cream design of Sennheiser HD 598 headphones remind you of the old times when they could create art with wood. The cream-colored structure is highlighted by a ring of Burl Wood veneers on the earpiece. The look is completed by brown velour pads. That’s right, velour. There’s no questioning the comfort of oval earpieces and the velvety feel of velour. The headband also has luxurious quilted padding sheathed in genuine leather. The fitment is great for wearing over long hours of movie marathons.

Since the HD598 movie headphones are touted to be audiophile grade, they come with cables that end in 6.3mm plugs. But the 6.3mm-3.5mm converter is also packed with the bunch, so no issues. There are two cables with the special edition version of these cans: a 1.2m cable and another 3m one. Both connect to the earcups via a 2.5mm port with twist-and-lock mechanism.

Audio

The Sennheiser HD 598 movie headphones, being open-back, have a majestic soundstage and that airy sound that closed-back headphones cannot produce. This can undermine the bass in some headphones but not HD 598. The bass runs deep and defined in them. The lower registers are full of power and sustain in a spacious soundstage. The midrange sounds just like the real deal when vocals come up.  The detailing of the sound is so good that you will be hearing intricacies that you never heard before.

The HD 598 headphones are much more accurate sounding than the other ones in the best headphones for movies list. But they do it with so much liveliness that movies become a treat to watch.

Pros:

  • Refined, natural audio
  • Powerful deep bass
  • Huge soundstage
  • Comfortable and gorgeous
  • 2 detachable cables

Cons:

  • Open-back leaks sound

7. Sony MDRRF985RK Wireless RF Headphone

sony-mdrrf985rk-wireless-rf-headphoneAnother longstanding RF headphone in the market is the Sony MDRRF985RK. This is similar to the Sennheiser RS175 in design but Sony caught up with the oval earpads late. So these use round earcups. The setup is fairly simple. They allow you to set the volume of headphones according to your wish. Meanwhile other people watching the movie can run the audio at normal volumes. This is especially useful for the hearing-impaired. The comfort and smooth connection make them perfect candidates for the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

Sony has never been about flashy looks. The RF985 movie headphones follow the same pattern. They have an all-black design. The earcups are round and sit around the ears. They have squishy padding draped in faux leather. The construction is all sturdy plastic. The headband also has a puffy cushion leaving just enough gap to make contact with the transmitter base. This base is a solid tower of plastic which doubles as a charging dock and storing rack.

The range for radio communication is roughly 50 feet in these movie headphones. The transmitter has a 3.5mm port and dual RCA ports. It can be connected to any source that has a 3.5mm port, a 6.5mm audio port or RCA ports. One transmitter of this set can connect to multiple RF985 headphones, so you can get more of these for the family.

Audio

Sony specializes in good sound in affordable packages. That reflects in the MDRRF985RK movie headphones. The wireless connection is strong and clear within the range. The audio is slightly warm but not overly so. There’s punchy bass which powers the action-packed movies. It is meaty, maybe slightly less controlled than the M50x. But then again these are TV headphones not audiophile ones. The midranges and highs are balanced with the vibrant bass.

Given the size and padding on the earpieces, very little external noise creeps into it.

Pros:

  • Wireless headphones
  • Comfortable and sturdy
  • Rechargeable battery lasts 25 hours
  • Charges on the storage dock
  • Punchy bass and balanced audio

Cons:

  • Range could be better

8. Beyerdynamic DT-770-PRO-80 Closed Dynamic Headphone

beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro-80-closed-dynamic-headphoneBeyerdynamic confuses their audience with many versions of the DT770-Pro headphones. We are covering the 80Ohm version here because they are easier to drive for the portable playback devices. These are honed for all kinds of audio media, be it movies, songs, gaming, you name it. The accompanying velour earpads make them easy to wear through all this casual carousing as well. If you want a closed-back can in and around HD 598’s price range, these are the best headphones for movies.

Design and Features

The Beyerdynamic DT-770 movie headphones are built with comfort and durability in focus. The spring steel headband has a lasting touch. It is coated in the underside with foam and leatherette. The earpieces are round over-ear specimens. In the 80Ohm model they use velour earpads which are a blessing. The luscious feeling of these pads spoils us for other headphones. The earcups lean inwards to adapt to the contours of your head. The lush padding does not let the audio leak out.

The cable comes out of one earcup. It is almost 10 feet long and gives you a lot of room to move around from the TV or PC. Since these are 80 Ohm headphones, they can be driven by an amp. Use an Astro Mixamp 5.8 to boost the audio of headphones to required loudness.  You can still go amp-less with these with portable devices but they will be a tad difficult to drive.

Audio

The Beyerdynamic DT-770-Pro movie headphones are built to match the flow of movies. The bass is visceral, the impact hits you hard. The detailing of bass and its definition is slightly less than that of M50x, but it definitely has a little more power. The midrange is clear and balanced. It has great presence even over the muscular bass. Highs sizzle with a slight bite to them.

The soundstage is huge for a closed-back headphone. The full-bodied sound rests extremely well on the wide stage. The above-par noise isolation makes sure your listening is limited to the audio you actually need to hear.

Pros:

  • Powerful visceral bass
  • Good presence of mids
  • Long cable
  • Velour pads

Cons:

  • Cable is notdetachable

9. Sennheiser RS120 On-Ear Wireless RF Headphones with Charging Dock

sennheiser-rs120-on-ear-wireless-rf-headphones-with-charging-dockRF headphones generally end up being a little heavy. But Sennheiser finds a way to shed the weight and get uber-comfortable without sacrificing the versatility of RF headphones. *Drumroll* RS120 on-ear RF headphones.  They are extremely comfy for long-term wearing. The audio quality is classic Sennheiser. These are also quite affordable.  Their hassle-free setup and operation sails them smoothly into the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

The Sennheiser RS120 RF movie headphones bring huge value to the table. This is because of both the design and audio. The headphones themselves are pretty light at 8 ounces. These have on-ear earpads which sit on the ear instead of around it. The oval ear pieces make soft contact with the ears. Headband is also lushly padded on the underside with foam.  The left earcup has a power button. The right earcup has volume and tuning wheels which are difficult to differentiate.

The transmitter of this headphone set acts as a charging dock-cum-storage rack. The headphones pack rechargeable batteries. The cans get charged when placed on the dock. The transmitter has auto power off to save energy. It powers on automatically when the connected media player is switched on. Because of the design of this transmitter, it can be hung on the wall.

Audio

The audio of Sennheiser RS120 RF movie headphones outperform their price. The bass has loads of oomph that makes a great base for the rest of the frequencies. The definition and details are better than the more expensive RF sets of Sennheiser. The mids have a lot of presence because the bass toes its line here. Each dialog is clear and easy to hear even over the chug-chug of helicopter rotor. The details of the audio are clearly audible here.

There are small disturbances in the RF connections once in a while. But they are relatively infrequent. The fact that audio is superior to the price-point makes it an excellent addition to the best headphones for movies list.

Pros:

  • Balanced, detailed audio
  • Lightweight design
  • Comfortable for prolonged wearing
  • Transmitter can be mounted on the wall

Cons:

  • Volume and tuning wheels are hard to differentiate

10. Sennheiser HD 201 Lightweight Over Ear Headphones

sennheiser-hd-201-lightweight-over-ear-headphonesIf you are on a shoestring budget, Sennheiser has not given up on you.  Their HD201 headphones are easy on pocket and your ears. Even at the humble price, they bring Sennheiser’s dexterity to the table. Their superlight architecture makes you forget that you have headphones on. They offer big bang for the buck, both sonically and physically. Such maturity of balanced audio is hard to find in headphones in this price range. With so much going for them, how could we not put them on the best headphones for movies list.

Design and Features

Sennheiser HD201 movie headphones follow the same structure as their hi-end headphones, oval over-ear earcups with broad headband. The earpads are a little stiff but they soften eventually. If you have small or medium-sized ears, these will encircle them comfortably.  The headband can expand to fit the size of your noggin. The build quality is decent. But we suggest that you be careful with these if you want them to last long

The cable is perhaps the one complain that we have from these movie headphones. They sport a double-sided cable which limits the movement of head from side-to-side. On the upside, the cable is 10 feet long and quite convenient when you want to put some distance between yourself and the viewing screens.

Audio

Sennheiser practices balanced audio in almost all its headphones. The HD201 movie headphones are cut from the same cloth. They have punchy bass which matches with other aspects of the music. The bass levels will not satisfy a basshead. The midranges and highs line in with equal vigor. There’s no harshness or distortion in their audio. The soundstage is as big as we expect from a closed-back headphone.

HD201 is known for its crystal clear audio. You will be able to enjoy the minutiae of the music without bass interference. Instrument separation lets you visualize the events going up on the screen. These headphones are for those viewers who are not keen on powerful bass.

Pros:

  • Balanced audio
  • Crystal clear sound
  • Affordable
  • Comfortable

Cons:

  • Double-sided cable
