For some audiophiles, who are more akin to listening to a studio experience, here are some headphones built typically to suit that purpose. These headphones are custom made for purists and are of top notch quality. While headphone companies are deliberately making an effort to up their stakes in the stylish department, but these headphones are mostly along the lines of better technology usage; the best that is available actually. Albeit, its price range is a tad bit on the higher end, but the cost is more than made up for with the kind of sound dissemination that these headphones offer.
1. Audio Technica M50
The Audio Technica M50 is a great pair of headphones and there are no two thoughts about that. Built more for a home ambience, the M5o has a long cord. However, unlike the M30, the cord is not taxingly long, and also coils up like the wire of a telephone towards the end. The cord with the M50, too, is that of a heavy duty and terminates into an equally heavy duty reinforced plug. While the cord allows users to listen to music on the go as well, the only catch is that it does not include and in line microphone or remote. The M50 can and is believed to have been built aimed towards studio use, for listening to music as well as recording. It also comes with a 1/3 inches adapter plug for a home receiver. The headphones, in terms of appeal, are rather simple. The ear cups are supra aural, or, on ear headphones. They are copiously padded and sit comfortably on the ear. Also, these are a pair of closed back headphones, so there is a possibility that it causes your ears to heat up a bit from long wear. Ignore that, and you have yourself a perfectly brilliantly pair of headphones. They fold flat and are also accompanied with a carrying bag to accentuate portability. You could just not complain about the sound. The 45mm large drivers with neodymium drivers and magnet systems are just the best. The bass is not the overwhelming kind. Subtle enough but convey an equally powerful thump. The middle and higher ranges have received the same kind of detailing and sensitivity; which leads to the production of crisp and transparent renditions. The sound is rich and warm and totally worth your money. It is not a coincidence that it has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5, from more than 4500 people who have used it, on Amazon.com!

2. AKG Q701 Quincy Jones
The AKG Q701 redefines celebrity endorsement in the headphone category. Albeit you have to pay a tad bit extra but the Q701are so totally worth it. They have large ear cup that encompass the entire ear, really. The Q 701 is available in certain color schemes like lime green, black and white. The ear cups are decently padded and makes up for the lack in the padding in the headband. The headband, however, has a leather covering. More importantly, the headband is self adjusting, which helps distribute the weight of the headphones evenly and accentuates the comfort on wearing the headphones. There is no tiredness or warm sensation on wearing for long hours. The Q701 are a pair of open back headphone, which means that some amount of sound bleeds out. They allow no noise isolation, at all. Inside the ear cups, there is the Varimotion technology with flat-wire voice-coil, multiplayer diaphragm and the neodymium drivers that is typical of AKG studio headphones. There are two cords-3m and 6m in length- and both terminate in a 3.5mm connection; and are accompanied by both 3.5mm and 6.3mm adapters. Both cords that are available are detachable. The Q701s are a little dependent on the kind of source playing the music. But, that apart, connected to the right source, the Q701 Quincy Jones is a star. Irrespective of which genre of music you are playing, the headphones produce are beautiful balance among all the ranges. The open back design adds to the uncluttered experience, produces a wide range and adds another dimension to the entire sonic experience. The AKG Q701 is really a gem in the headphones category.

3. V-MODA Crossfade LP
The V-MODA Crossfade LP is a completely different take in the headphone technology. They are stylish, chunky and deliver decent sound renditions. The ear cups are big and encompass the entire ear. The ear cups thus add to some natural sound isolation. The ear pads are covered by memory foam and so is the headband, which is also adjustable. While the objective of V-MODA is to consciously remove the gap between the head and the headband, it may seem to adding a little extra pressure, but it is completely neutralized by the comfort that the ear pads render. The headphones include a lot metal on the outer surface of the ear cups and the headband, and claim impressive durability. The cord is Kevlar reinforced and tangle free. The cord has an inline remote and microphone and terminates in a regular 3.5mm connection. Also there are cords of two lengths available with the headphones. The headphones do not fold flat into its carrying case which accompanies it along with the other accessories. It uses 50mm drivers with neodymium units, and does fairly well in terms of sound. It ensures music playback as well as call answering; but it is a little bass heavy and the sounds otherwise may seem a little different. The other ranges besides the bass do fairly well and the clarity during calls is commendable. It has a club feel about its sonic experience. All in all the V-MODA Crossfade LP is a beautiful looking pair of headphones with nicely defined sensitivity to music.
